The First word or the sentence you read will always leave a lasting impression on your mind and when I flipped the first page of the Book – I read - Thanks to my Parents for ” Raising me to believe that anything is possible” and then it said Thanks to my Husband – ” For making Everything Possible”.
So when Sheryl Sandberg writes credits it becomes a small secret word of encouragement to many women and I include myself in them. When you are raised in a certain way – you direct your life in that way. Leading your life is not a easy thing to do and it takes a lot of support from our surroundings . It is these surrounding s and people around us who have a very incessant role to play in our Success or Failures.
Every page I flipped it only felt my own story of fighting to study – do part time jobs – be more financially independent and get some sense of Authority on my own life. However a few quotes caught my attention and somewhere grounded me to understand things holistically :-
“By Knowing things could be worse should not stop us from trying to make it better”
“We hold ourselves back in ways both big and small, by lacking self-confidence, by not raising our hands, and by pulling back when we should be leaning in,” Sandberg writes in the book, called “Lean In.”
“We internalize the negative messages we get throughout our lives, the messages that say it’s wrong to be outspoken, aggressive, more powerful than men. We lower our own expectations of what we can achieve. We continue to do the majority of the housework and child care. We compromise our career goals to make room for partners and children who may not even exist yet.”
Women have to at some point in their lives take a step back or a few to make their lives more complete or it is the institutional way of life pre decided for the Gender whatever the case maybe – their are always a few backward steps. What keeps the ambition and courage high are the role models we have seen could be our grand mothers – mother – aunt – we do get to raise a family and bear children. I personally do not look at these as backward steps but these are parallel steps and they too require equal amount of dedication and determination. We do see a handful examples of Role reversals now.
I love the stereotyped women who is unattractive and Bossy – Oh so True. She also has her Fears in place the top most being “Fear of not being Liked , fear of Making the wrong choices, fear of being misjudged, drawing negative attention.
Career Advice how many times do we women want to look up for a career advice , restarting a career, Establish reasons for sabbaticals. These are like two parallel & Linear lives – One leads the Professional Goals and the other leads the Personal Goals. They are ultimately Goals.
Encouraging Men to Lean In to the family is considered a negative social pressure – I do not know how true is that but Men in general remain disconnected or neutral to the idea of a successful family because the entire pressure to make it successful is on the women.
I may not want to sound very feminist writing these views but these are quite aggressive and Revolutionary for the Indian Culture to adopt. We live in the century where we talk about the women freedom and role reversals – but our ambitions and visions die each day when a women is raped on the streets, advised to take to the torture, her credits and rewards are shared because she is just a Women and she must know how to make adjustments for everything around her will work smooth if she adjusts.
Stand up against what is wrong – at least you will save yourself a pride and self respect.

The Time for performance Appraislas
Appraisals, salary hikes, promotions... March has now become the most eventful month in an employee's life at work. While appraisals are still a dreaded exercise in a large number of companies because of the lack of systems and processes and the impending effect like exits, there are a handful of organisations that have managed to get out of the 360-degree feedback routine.
Training Employees in an economic slowdown
A successful general knows that only way to win a war is to keep 'morale of the soldiers high' by involving them, challenging them and developing them. The economic slowdown is triggering rightsizing in many organisations, however it will be in their best interest if they also look at right training as a survival strategy.
Take a Holiday form Work
"No employee is indispensable." It seems to be the mantra for a growing number of young professionals, who for the fear of losing their job, are not going on leave for extended periods of time. There are however repercussions of taking the cliche a little too seriously.

Six ways to be a great Boss
A good manager not only coaches an employee to develop a skill but also helps in conditioning it as a behavior. In simple words, become a mentor, ie, a wise and trusted counselor/ teacher/ trainer, who can act as a catalyst for growth and nurture potential and talent. Building teams is not a one-time effort but an everyday process. Good managers involve, engage and inspire their teams on a daily basis.
